A single touch of an electronic button and it rises silently and majestically from the depths of the workbench.  A second touch and it beg ins to quietly remove all cooking odours and grease-laden fumes from the multiple pans bubbling away on the cooktop.

The LIFT, by Smeg, is a piece of beautifully stylish, technical wizardry that takes rangehoods to a whole new level!

For many kitchen installations the conventional rangehood, mounted above the cooktop, is not ideal due to a lack of space or, as in island bench applications, is impractical.

This new concealed telescopic downdraft rangehood, from Smeg, takes up no visible space and is installed in the benchtop either to the rear or one side of the cooktop.

The LIFT Downdraft is raised from the benchtop only when needed and when cooking is finished it returns to its storage position concealed within the cabinetry.

Features of the LIFT include whisper quiet air extraction, an above bench-top height of 310mm, four speeds and a powerful motor capable of removing up to 760 cubic metres of air an hour.

Available in two finishes, either brushed stainless steel (LIFTFPX900) or stainless steel and black mirror glass (LIFTB900), the appliance is 900mm wide and includes stainless steel and aluminium filters that can be conveniently cleaned in the dishwasher.

Air laden with odours and grease is sucked into the filters, cleaned and then returned to the kitchen.

Both models of the LIFT have an LED panel, a cut off timer, electronic controls and a ten-minute delay shut off – you can sit down and eat while the appliance continues cleansing the air in the kitchen before shutting down automatically after five minutes.  It also has a reminder light for filter cleaning.
