Acknowledgment of design and technological excellence

Smeg’s espresso coffee machine has been awarded a prestigious, internationally recognisable, GOOD DESIGN® Award.  Smeg surpassed more than 500 entries – leading-edge industrial, product and graphic design from around the world – to win the coveted prize for excellence in design and innovation.

Winners were selected by an international jury of architects, designers and creative directors from the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in the United States of America.  The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, founded in 1950 by world renowned architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames and Edgar Kaufmann Jr, also administers the awards.

During its long 65 year heritage, the GOOD DESIGN® Awards have maintained their importance and relevance with selection criteria focusing on aesthetics and innovation as well as a product’s ability to enrich users’ lives and society as a whole.

This is a significant award for the Smeg small appliance expresso coffee machine, rewarding and highlighting Smeg’s focus on form and function coupled with long-held design credentials.  It is also well deserved recognition for Smeg’s technological innovation and vision.

For more than 70 years, Smeg has worked tirelessly to combine aesthetics and technology, creating appliances that offer both style and functionality, establishing the brand as a pinnacle of excellence.
