A celebration of Italian wine, food and culture
Wine and food loving Italians and Italian aficionados turned out in force to eat and drink their way around Italy at the annual Sydney Italian Wine + Food Festival. In its fourth year, this very popular festival is a true celebration of the very best Italian wine, food and culture.
Smeg has proudly been involved with this festival since the beginning; not only it is a fabulous way to share the Smeg brand and products with this discerning audience, but a great way to showcase Smeg’s Italian heritage.
The festival, held in the historic Sydney Town Hall, was awash with brightly coloured Smeg FAB fridges and small appliances. Smeg’s major appliances were on show too and also in operation at the numerous restaurant kitchens and chef and food producer demonstration stages.
Sydney’s best Italian chefs used Smeg Victoria Thermoseal ovens and SmartSense Plus induction cooktops to prepare their signature recipes to very happy festival goers. Restaurants represented included Lot 1 Sydney, Sud, Popolo, Mantecato, Otto Ristorante and Aperitivo.
Over 200 of Italy’s finest wines and a great selection of Australian wines made from Italian grapes, divided by region plus premium Italian aperitifs, beers, liqueurs, grappa and amaro were available for tasting. Masterclasses hosted by leading winemakers and sommeliers were also offered for those wanting to learn about Italian grape varieties and regions.
To accompany the wine, the adjacent food market contained an array of delicious savoury and sweet dishes made with love by a hand-picked group of Italian food producers.
The sundrenched wine garden, dotted with bright red Smeg small appliances, was the perfect spot to enjoy the Italian wine and food and soak up the festival atmosphere.
