What does the oven function "Top Heat" mean?

Best used to provide heat from the top only. For instance, gently browning the top but not cooking the base or content further. Great for making golden brown crostini, pie tops, a large cauliflower with cheese etc. This function works very well when slowly melting or browning foods, it is a gentle top heat. This is not a radiant heat source however so food will not brown at the speed of the grill functions. Use at low temperatures or on the low shelves to keep food warm.
