What saucepans can I use on a ceramic or induction cooktop?
When using ceramic cooktops the best type of saucepan to use is a flat-based stainless steel saucepan. Do not use copper based or aluminum saucepans as these will leave marks on the surface, which cannot be removed. Enamel and glass saucepans can be used on standard ceramic cooktops, but not on induction cooktops. Aluminum or copper saucepans can only be used if they have a flat stainless steel base. Induction cooktops use an electromagnetic heat source and therefore need a saucepan that is metal. This means that cast iron saucepans or stainless steel saucepans that have ferras iron content are the only type that can be used.
NOTE: Some saucepans have a small induction symbol on the bottom. Otherwise you can use a strong magnet to check if the saucepan is metal.
